The new Wellness Center is now open! Volunteers needed for the Career Fair @LHS – April 14th, 2022; Amazing updates for competitive cheer, girls soccer, boys basketball, boys soccer, and wrestling, plus marching band kudos; The Bell Schedule Committee continues to work on the bell schedule for 2022/23 school year; Volunteer for the Leigh Longhorn Stampede!
Be a part of the parent committee for WASC accreditation meeting; incoming 9th grade parent night scheduled for January 24, 2022; Course selection information evening for parents of current 9th-11th grade students will be held on January 11, 6:30-8pm; Information sessions about AP and Honors classes will be held during tutorial.
LHS is in mid-cycle for WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) accreditation; National Arts Honors Society is painting a cherry blossom design on a utility box in the parking lot to promote Hepatitis Awareness; the California State Assembly representatives passed S.B. 328 which requires high schools in the state to start no earlier than 8:30 a.m. and will come into effect in the school year 2022-23; tickets on sale now for LHS theater’s production of Almost, Maine; Senior Grad Night tickets on sale now; Save the date for the Longhorn Stampede: Saturday, May 21, 2022!
It’s HAUNTED HOUSE season! Read the newsletter for pix and the tale of the rise and fall and rise of the annual LHS haunted house; Leigh is undergoing an evaluation by The Education Trust-West to study ways to close opportunity gaps for students in our district; Homework Center has moved to the library; Intervention Tutorial has started for students; Academic Support is available for students through Paper Tutoring; Pictures of campus beautification day.
All students can now receive free lunch; teachers took part in Social Justice Training; new, easy to use, 24-hour online tutoring service called Paper Tutoring; new online reporting system called StopIt, which is an anonymous reporting system for student concerns; free heart screenings to teens and young adults, coming up on October 2 (register).
Free COVID testing is available for any Leigh student who wants to be tested, every Thursday for the foreseeable future; Campus Clean-up Day is Saturday October 9th, 9:00am- 1:00pm; The HSC Staff Appreciation Team provided muffins and coffee for a Back to School Breakfast for our teachers and staff; Our booster clubs had a great experience sharing information and selling Leigh swag at the football season opener on August 27; Follow-up Q&A from HSC President’s Coffee Hour.
