A great night of Bingo with Butler took place on March 3rd at 7:00 p.m.; Starting on April 12 we’ll go into Phase 3 (9th graders and prioritized students may opt in to return for hybrid instruction) and on April 26, we will go into Phase 4 (10th-12th graders may opt in to return for hybrid instruction); Subscribe to receive the Student Weekly Bulletin in your inbox; Open office hours at the College and Career Center; Stress reduction strategies for students and adults; Join the Leigh Home & School Club next year.
Nine LHS students have been selected to have their work exhibited in this years ArtNow exhibition at the New Museums Los Gatos starting March 20th; 2021/2022 course selection is in full swing; Over the Presidents Week break, a group of students spent time on campus to work on our new wall mural; The College Board is providing 3 different windows for AP testing with options for in-person and virtual testing; Teachers who live in Santa Clara County are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine starting February 28th.
This week our administrative staff joined together to present information to currently enrolled students on what is required for enrolling in classes for the 2021/22 school year; the Board of Trustees approved Superintendent Bravo’s recommendation to remain in Level 1: Distance Learning + Limited In-Person Supports and reconsider moving to Levels 2 and/or Level 3 at the end of February/Early March; There will be a Community College virtual fair hosted by all five College and Career specialists in our district on February 24th.
On December 9 Kara Butler and our Assistant Principals presented information and had a discussion with our community [recording]; Presentations for next year’s academic courses are being developed and guidance counselors will be meeting with students in February, as well as hosting discussions during Outreach periods; 8th Grade Information Night will take place on January 12, 2021 via Zoom. Details have been provided to each of our feeder schools. Information Night for all our current Leigh families will also take place in January towards the end of the month, but a date has not been solidified; Six Leigh students and one Oak Grove student designed a mural to be painted in the school’s hallway during the Spring semester [more details about this exciting project]. We’re all getting ready for finals! Please be sure that your students are utilizing tutorials [full tutorial schedule]; Leigh students Dinhe Calamateos-Abarca and Michaela Sampas were selected to have their artwork displayed in large format (8′ x 12′) in downtown San Jose for the next two years; Student Leadership has established a new LHS Podcast Commission; At a special school board meeting on December 1 at 6:00 p.m. the Board reviewed Dr. Bravo’s recommendation for a phased return to school for Spring Semester (Jan-June) [full report]; Substitute teachers [district application] and tutors [complete this form] needed; Unfortunately, the Measure L only reached 61.8% support and needed 66.7% to pass. We will campaign again in 2022 – this time for a new parcel tax as the current one will have expired.
Halloween is here and Leigh’s Annual Haunted House was transformed into a drive-through experience with great success; The leadership class is planning a movie night for the seniors, and juniors and sophomores are planning their class hangout events. The freshmen hosted an online game night as their class hangout; District Live Q& A with Dr. Bravo and Kalen Gallagher took place on November 4, 10 and 19; Parent Volunteers needed for Club Support and for TEDx; Vote YES on MEASURE L
Join HSC Co-Presidents Aine O’Donovan and Tamara Strachman for an informal get-together and Q&A on October 26th at 10:30am; We are in need of parent volunteers to provide academic tutoring and support for students during class time [firstname.lastname@example.org]; We are working with our Activities Director, Anthoney Roe, to set up parent support/mentoring for our clubs [email@example.com]; Get your Leigh car stickers and your Leigh face masks; Vote YES on Measure L.
Many of our staff has been affected by the recent wildfires.
